Deiniol the Swallow and Merfyn the Blackbird meet in the garden as fledglings when they are both learning to fly. Deiniol explains that he is practising flying to Africa – but Chack doesn’t believe him. Merfyn tells Deiniol that the blossom on his favourite tree will eventually turn into orange berries – Deiniol doesn’t believe him.
